White Water Rafting For The Adventurous soul!

by Dane Masters

To me, a vacation or a short holiday does not mean going for walks or loitering on the beach. It is the signal for attempting something so exciting that the memories will remain for a long time to come! And so I have attempted going off-road motorcycling, snowmobiling, white water rafting and bungee jumping–to name just a few of my adventures! In fact, let me share my “white water rafting” holiday with you!

Before going for any vacation or for any activity, it is always wise to pick up some basic information about it beforehand. White water rafting being a very popular sport, it was easy to find out everything about it from the World Web. Not only were my questions answered, but the added bonus of getting expert advice from experienced rafters was also there. The questions that needed to be asked included–the rivers most suited to this type of activity, where I could go for good guides, which months of the year were great for white water rafting and so on. Here is my experience with the sport.

The US has a lot to offer for white water rafting. Rivers in the Western, Eastern and Central areas were all suitable for this sport. While the Western sector had the Colorado river and the Snake river, the Central and Eastern parts had rivers in West Virginia, North and South Carolina, Maine, Tennessee and New York. This removed any notions that I had earlier about suitable rivers being available only in the Western part of the country! This knowledge also gave me the thrill of knowing that I could begin my journey at one river and end it at another. The sport and sightseeing–both could be combined for a magnificent vacation!

Second, I was able to get a good idea of which months are best for a white water rafting trip. What I learned from my research is that there are several factors that affect the best time to go, including the location itself, the general weather conditions in the area, and the skill level of the participants. Those who want the most exciting excursion possible should go during high-water conditions, while those who want a somewhat tamer experience should go at other times. Generally speaking, white water rafting season lasts from May to September.

Finally, I discovered that choosing the right guide company could make all the difference between a memorable white water rafting trip and one that you would rather forget. It’s important to choose a company that values safety above everything else, and that has a proven track record of reliability and customer satisfaction. The Internet makes it easy to perform side-by-side comparisons of different companies, so I just took my time and made sure that I found out everything I could about the outfitters before I made my reservations.

The experience was groovy and will remain in my memories forever! I am waiting to go back! How would you like to make your trip memorable too?
